3 Ways to Keep Interest in the Things You Love
Why am I losing interest? How do I keep interested in the things I love? This issue is
more common than you might think and can be rooted in various causes, including
mental health conditions, stress, burnout, or even lifestyle factors. In some severe
cases, you may be asking yourself why you suddenly losing interest. But let us
uncover how you can overcome losing interest.
Loss of interest, also known as anhedonia can be a symptom of mental health conditions like depression,
anxiety, or bipolar disorder. It might manifest as a lack of pleasure in activities you used to enjoy, withdrawal from social interactions, and a general sense of apathy.
Set Achievable and Meaningful Goals
First, you would want to start by setting short-term and long-term goals that
match your interests. Break them down into smaller steps so you can easily make
progress. When you have a clear goal, you’re more likely to feel excited and stay
engaged.
Make sure your goals are realistic but still challenging. Celebrate your
achievements along the way to stay motivated. This not only keeps your interest
but also helps prevent burnout and gives you a sense of success.
Avoid Doing the Same Things Repeatedly
Then to keep interest, you should try changing your activities or doing them in a
new way. For example, if you love painting, try a new technique or medium. If
you’re a runner, explore new routes or terrains.
Changing your routine can prevent boredom and keep you interested. It also helps
you see your interests from a new angle, which can reignite your passion and
keep you motivated.
Practice Self-Care
What often gets overlooked is the importance of taking care of yourself. It is so
important you’re getting enough sleep, I can’t emphasize enough on that. But then
you want to eat well and exercise regularly. Also, make time for activities that
help you relax and recharge, like reading, walking in nature, or practicing
mindfulness.
Taking care of your body and mind puts your body at a more energetic and
focus state.

yes, sometimes taking a break from your hobby doesn’t mean you will never do it again. Sometimes you just need to relax, have a good sleep (not always easy to do:) and get back to it when you have more energy! Putting too much on your head can push you away from things you love. Let’s just all relax 🙂 and then passion will come back 🙂
